Podcast Ep. 2: Electric Boogaloo

Fry Front 640

We are getting very close to professional players participating in live baseball games against each other! I know it’s only Spring Training, but the Seattle Mariners will be taking the field Wednesday to open things up against their Peoria Sports Complex roommates San Diego.

Of note in game one is Seattle’s starter, former General James Paxton. Paxton is among the three pitchers fighting for two spots in the rotation come opening day. When healthy, he has been fantastic. He has a 3.16 ERA over 30 MLB starts, but he hasn’t pitched more than 74 innings in a season.

First pitch is slated for 2:10 pm CT, and you can hear the game on 710 ESPN in Seattle or online for those of you with MLB Audio. A full Spring Schedule with Radio/TV information is here.

Prospect rankings! MLB.com released their list of the top 30 prospects in the organization earlier this week, and seven Generals are featured. There are a handful of players that will likely spend the bulk of 2016 in West Tennessee as well.

Though Seattle’s system isn’t among the best in baseball, MLB.com noted that Jerry Dipoto’s moves since taking the reigns have helped bolster the organization’s talent and depth.

We’ll get more into rankings as the season approaches and we have a more concrete picture of who will be starting the year in the Southern League.

Lastly, we did another podcast! Episode two of the Seattle System Scoop (I guess that’s what we’re going with) is on the Internets. Myself and the other four broadcasters in the system talked a little bit about Spring Training storylines, but spent most of our time discussing how we prepare for the season with little in the way of actual baseball news at the moment.

We all worked very hard on this podcast, so please listen! I’ll be Arizona for Spring Training next week, so hopefully I’ll have some good #content for you all from Peoria.
